| I'm no expert, but with some of the knowledge I have, and some of my background in music, I created a Kirar Tutorial Video for those of you who would like to learn. Its pretty broken down to the basics.
Part One
Part Two
Enjoy, and have fun with it. __________________ less talking, more doing.

| Hope the tutorials help Revgirl and all the best with learning!
Thanks Black_Lamb! yea the guitar is much more complex than the kirar. They both have 5 to 6 strings, but the guitar has more variety of notes (by the neck of the guitar). __________________ less talking, more doing. |

ERITREA WITH OR WITHOUT DEMOCRACY WILL PREVAIL-TRUST YOUR PEOPLE-PATIENCE!
"Eritrea after Egypt has the second highest archeological historical discoveries in Africa."--its better than bullets or million man army
"The remains of what is thought to be the oldest settled agricultural community in Africa have been discovered on the outskirts of the Eritrean capital, Asmara, the United Nations has said." (5-22-2002, BBC )
The multi-party system doesn’t work in Africa because this model is a Trojan horse for the imperialists. The neocolonialists fix the democratic game by financing candidates that best meet their requirements: access to raw materials for their multinationals, support in foreign affairs, etc. |

Girl you betta teach the masses! Ppl really sleep on the magic of the pentatonic scale, it's the backbone of Eri music, and a lot of Eastern music. Malian music use this scale too, as do a number of other African and Asian cultures. Playing the krar is so trippy bc it's like the exact opposite of the guitar: you put your fingers on the krar strings that are not supposed to be touched on a guitar. i'll try this once i get a [proper] krar (homemade one busted lmao)
Thanks as always Luwam. We definitely gotta get up on that indaba duo, if not thru recorded exchanges...i realized your style reminds me of this singer named Res...

You should be in a room making music and just really geeking off yourself; making music and just loving it. And then someone come in the room like 'yo i like that.' So, now i have some loyal fans.....who say 'so why don't you go back to the room and be like your lil weird self and just go back and create some more of that. And we'll support you." - Raphael Saadiq |

Yea you're right, Eritrean music is 90% pentatonic scale and true on other African and Asian music. loool @ home made kirar, thats cute. Hope you do get on the kirar tho, I'm sure you'd rock it!
